Greensboro, NC (February 22, 2021) – Around 2:18 a.m. on Monday morning, February 22, a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident occurred on a highway in Greensboro.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident took place on I-85 around the area of Groometown Road. A vehicle was traveling south in the area when it struck a pedestrian who was walking across the road at the time. The vehicle then fled the scene of the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene of the crash. The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The roadway was blocked in the area until approximately 4:55 a.m.
Police have not yet found the driver responsible for the accident but their investigation into the collision continues.
