Lexington, NC – Two Killed in Fatal Head-on Collision on US Hwy 52

Lexington, NC (April 20, 2021) – On Monday, April 19, two people were killed in a fatal head-on collision on a roadway in Lexington.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at Old US Highway 52. A vehicle was headed north on the roadway when it went over the center line and into the other lane of traffic. The vehicle struck another vehicle head-on.

The driver and passenger in the other vehicle were both pronounced dead at the scene. They have since been identified as 76-year-old Jerry Lynn Thomas and 75-year-old Brenda Wallace Thomas.

The driver of the wrong-way vehicle, who has not yet been formally identified, was also taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. Charges are pending against the driver.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
