Pilot Mountain, NC (March 22, 2021) – At 6:12 a.m. on Monday morning, March 22, a victim was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Pilot Mountain.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident happened on US-52 around the area of Cook School Road. A person was crossing the roadway when they were suddenly struck by a tractor-trailer driving through the area in the southbound lanes.
Paramedics and numerous other local responders were present at the scene. The pedestrian, who has not yet been formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Due to the severity of the crash, a portion of the highway was closed for several hours.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
