Asheville, NC (January 31, 2021) – Around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday night, January 31, a firetruck accident took place on a highway in Asheville.
According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of I-26 around the area of Long Shoals Road. For reasons that are not yet known, the driver of a firetruck lost control of their vehicle, causing it to overturn with multiple fire crews inside.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the accident. Multiple crew members on the firetruck were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries but are expected to be okay.
The roadway was blocked in multiple lanes for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation continues at this time.
