Asheville, NC (April 13, 2021) – Around 5:30 p.m. on the evening of Monday, April 12, a man was killed in a truck crash in Asheville.
According to Jackson County officials, the accident happened at the intersection of US-23 and Haywood Road. At the time, a tractor-trailer was headed south and was unable to stop in time, striking two vehicles from behind at the intersection. The tractor-trailer then flipped over onto the vehicles.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. A 78-year-old man from the area was pronounced dead at the scene.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
