Charlotte, NC (May 6, 2021) – Around 4:30 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, May 6, a serious car accident with injuries occurred on a highway in Charlotte.
According to officials, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-77 near the area of Westinghouse Boulevard. Two vehicles were traveling in the area when they collided with each other, which led to extensive damages.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. A total of ten victims were injured as a result of the accident. Eight of these victims were taken to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center while two others were taken to Novant Main for treatment.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
